A Western RPG that changed gamers' lives forever

E-mail

bgateBy the mid-90s PC gamers tended to lean toward FPS and Strategy games. Like a lot of gamers I have fond memories of Jedi Knightalt, Quake 1 and 2, Doom, Age of Empires, Tomb Raider 2, Warcraft 2, Total Annihilation, and the the list goes on and on. But I happened to read a review in PC Gamer that would change my gaming perspective forever on one genre that would open the floodgates of RPGs for so many gamers like myself.

How-To Guide for Geeks: Finding a girlfriend based on the video games you play

E-mail

The lifestyle of a gamer is a turn off for some girls. You spend most of your time in front of a screen either shooting people, creating a second life (without your girlfriend), or pretending to be a professional athlete, when everyone knows you couldn’t throw a football to save your life. However, some women do appreciate the games and the people playing them. If you’re in the market for a girl that can appreciate, or at least put up with your gaming habits, check out this how-to guide.

Pick a girl that is independent.
Be honest with yourself. You know you will spend more time playing video games than catering to your lady, so pick a girl with her own life. Make sure she has friends that can keep her entertained during your countless gaming binges.

Find a gamer girl.
If you can find a girl that plays video games, hold on to her tight. She will not only support your video game habit, but also be a major part of it. Every anniversary, birthday and special event can revolve around gaming, what more could you ask for?

Hit the streets.
You’re never going to find your dream girl staring at a screen. As hard as it may be to leave the comfort of your home, or your online gaming community, that’s where the real girls live. Hit up your favorite gaming store, a local coffee shop, or participate in events in your community—you never know who you’ll find!

Now that we’ve covered the basics of finding your perfect gamer girl, let’s get into details. What follows is a list of game-specific expectations that shouldn’t be passed by...

Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope Review

E-mail

Comic-Con Poster_660While Hollywood's repeated attempts to bring geek culture to the big screen is more often a failure than not, documentaries seem to be one of the best ways to make it happen.  King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters tells an amazing true story of Steve Wiebe's journey to take the top spot in the world of Pac-Man.  It focuses on real people, not poorly acted caricatures, and is all the better for it.  Morgan Spurlock's Comic-Con Episode IV also succeeds in this same manner, merely putting a camera in front of real people who have high hopes and amazing stories.
