Baseball Superstars 2011 Review

America's pastime is something that everybody should enjoy.  Now, thanks to Gamevil, you can with an original game on your iPhone.  Baseball Superstars 2011 features many game modes to choose from and a great value for a mere $0.99.

The main mode, “My League,” allows you to first pick whether you want to be a batter or a pitcher.  You can't do both in this mode unfortunately, so whatever the other team does in the skipped half inning may really hurt you.  After picking your role, you get to create your very own player and throw him on a team of your choice.  Then, your'e off to start your season.

As a batter, you must tap the screen once to prepare, then tap the swinging bat to swing, or tap the bunting bat to bunt.  Timing is crucial.  After hitting the ball, a diamond appears on the left side of the screen and allows you to choose what base to stay on.

As a pitcher, you may first select three pitches to use in your arsenal.  Then, you tap once to prepare, a second time on the pitch you want to throw to select it, a third time to start, and a fourth time to release the pitch.  You want to release the pitch when the circle forming during your windup is full.  Too much and your pitch will be bad and probably result in a ball or hitting the batter, too soft and it could be an easy home run.

Whichever role you choose, your goal is the same:  Lead your team to victory.  You gain fame as you improve your skills, and your stats just seem to increase the same way as in Soccer Superstars 2011.  In fact, this game is extremely similar to Soccer Superstars 2011.  If you have played that game before this, you know what to expect.

Moving on to exhibition mode, this is where the full experience is.  If you just want one short game, it's right there.  And best of all, you can bat and pitch instead of picking one or the other.  Just pick your team, and the team you want to crush, and its game on!

There really isn't a lot more to ramble on about.  Baseball Superstars 2011 will satisfy all Gamevil fans and may rope in some new fans with this great baseball game.  All of the game modes make this app an incredible value at, once again, only $0.99.
