Soccer Superstars 2011 Pro has recently arrived on the appstore and the game breathes life back into the sport of soccer. I am a sucker for sports games that mix things up. I'm talking about: Blitz the League, The Bigs, and now, I am proud to add Soccer Superstars 2011 Pro to this list.
Soccer Superstars career mode starts off with you picking a name and being recruited to a soccer team that is having a pretty bad season. They are psyched to have you because you are a famous coach and you may be able to turn this season around for them. But none of that matters, as no sports games are played for their stories. They are played for the gameplay and features.
The gameplay is pretty awesome. As you would probably expect, you are given a virtual analog to control your player. You also have buttons to attempt to kick a goal, pass the ball and attempt a skill-shot. You want to move around the field without a player from the other team running into you or they will take the ball. You can do the same to get the ball back to your team, but it can be easier said than done.
You can purchase new players with G-Points and even trade players, however, the best of the best aren’t cheap or easy to trade for. Also, the easiest and fastest way to get G-Points is to purchase them, which may be a little much since the game is already $5. While that isn’t a fortune, you have to think of all of the free apps you could get and the ones $0.99 and up. Then, thinking about a sports game for $5 may seem a little crazy. The best news is that it does support the Game Center. Gotta love any game with Game Center support, achievements are a great way to get time out of your purchases.
All in all, the game is a little expensive, but it’s a worthy addition to anyone’s iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. I look forward to a fantastic season with my new team!
