Kona's Crate - Android Game Review

Kona's CrateToday's free Amazon App is the game Kona's Crate, described on the Appstore as an "addicting physics-based game... delivering packages to Chief Kona across 60 levels."

KonaLevelStartThe physics the game touts are interesting and frustrating at the same time. The object of the game is to maneuver a jet powered platform with a crate on it from Point A to the chief at Point B in as little time as possible - the faster you do it the better rating you get (3 stars being a perfect run). It's not important to have the crate on top of the platform when it gets to the chief; which a good thing because those frustrating physics make it nigh impossible to do that.

KonaTutorialOften times I found myself accelerating too quickly and hitting the ceiling or the walls. My inability to control my delivery craft may come from the fact that the tutorial is 5 pictures with simple captions like, "Tap the screen to control the platform." That doesn't really give me any insight as to how quickly the platform will accelerate and there is no in-level, hands-on, real world tutorial.

KonaLevelCompleteI've only played halfway through the first set of levels and they've been labeled as "tutorial" levels and the Amazon description claims that the first levels are easy but soon they'll get harder. Seeing as I've only received a single 3 star rating so far I'm a little apprehensive about what crazy obstacles will need to be avoided in later levels.

Overall, I don't think this game is worth the normal $3 price point but it doesn't hurt to pick up a game for the low price of free. Even if you don't end up liking it you don't lose anything except a few minutes of your day. Check out Kona's Crate and other Android apps now.
