Rare PS2 Games You Should Have Bought

PDFPrintE-mail

The PlayStation 2 was perhaps the best console of it's time thus far with a huge library of games. I still think so today. Let's take a look at those games that got away.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Limited Edition
If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with Metal Gear. To this day, I still remember seeing the limited edition of MGS3 sitting on that shelf in Walmart. It was the last copy on the shelf, and it was a little expensive. So, I held off and figured I would buy it later. I will, but I sure wish I would have pulled the trigger then. Now it will run you $100 to $250.00 on Amazon.

Growlanser: Generations
Here's another game you don't see everyday, and its going for a pretty high price as well. Only a single rating on Amazon. That should be enough to prove how few people have it. Amazon's price: $50 to $80

Resident Evil 4 (Premium Edition)
Okay, now this one has a catch. If you could go back in time and grab this game, you had better keep it sealed. Once again using amazon, this game goes from $19 used to a whopping $185. RE4 on the PS2 was a great game, but I wouldn't pay that much for the premium edition. Not the new price anyway. Go used games!

Marvel V.S. Capcom 2
Okay, this one has a catch as well. Go back in time, buy it, and sell it before it is announced for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live arcade. Otherwise, your taking quite a loss. Now, you can pick it up for only $40, or get it brand new for $95.

The Red Star
There are two listings for this item on Amazon. I am not sure if they are the exact same game, but I do know they have different artwork. And of course, different price tags. This one goes from $100 brand new to, wait for it, $1,999.99 used. Here's what I want to know, who played that copy! For an extra $1,899.99 than the new version it must have been Chuck Norris.

.Hack//G.U. Vol.1//Rebirth Special Edition
Everybody talks about .Hack G.U. When it comes to rare games. This edition of the game right here will run you $105 to $172. I have never, ever, seen this outside of the internet. No shock there, huh?

Nightmare Before Christmas
Again, could somebody please tell me why this game is so expensive? Two different versions of the game, and this one is ranging from $100 to $150. I really don't get it. Oh well, I doubt if anyone really cares. Who's got this on their PS2 games to buy list?

.Hack, Part 4: Quarantine
Going back to Hack again, part 4 goes for quite a price now too. By part 4 you would think they would learn to make more copies, wouldn't you? I sure would. $50 to $115 on Amazon.

Robotech: Battlecry – Collector's Edition

Similar to Metal Gear Solid 3 at the top of this list, Robotech: Battlecry has a non-collector's edition for a much lower price. But, to get the big, bad, expensive edition you will have to cough up $48 to $140.

Rule of Rose
What better way to finish up this list than to add in one more game that I have never heard of? Rule of Rose has some nice artwork and good reviews on Amazon and I wouldn't mind trying it out. However, for $49 to $65 I think they can keep it.

To get to the other rare and expensive games that are popular, some people may be surprised about how cheap they can be found now. Used, that is. If this list were just for new games I guarantee several more games, including many familiar games, would be listed. I hope this list introduced a few games you have never heard of, and stunned you with the price of others.

I bought Red Star at Shopko for $20 for my little brother's birthday a couple years ago. I'll have to let him know he can make some sweet cash on ebay with it! :D
