Everything's Better with Zombies

As Call of Duty: Rezurrection has recently hit Xbox Live and is soon to hit PS3 and PC, Ryan Johnson looked back at the fad that is Zombie Mode. Prevalent in many First Person Shooters and games like Red Dead Redemption, many would think that the culture's infatuation with zombies is a fairly new one. Alas, this is not true. Zombies have been gnawing their way through our heroes for many years...

A little known secret is that in the original Mario game, beating World -1 unlocked Zombie Mode.

Hundreds of gamers complained that the Atari 2600's classic Adventure's Zombie mode had unbalanced AI that would hover around important items.

ET's downloadable content pack introduced the world to "Horde Mode."

I wouldn't "Size up that situation" if I were you, traveler. I'd rather risk dysentery.

On a slightly more modern note, it is rumored that the final bosses of Superman 64 were actually zombies, and the story had nothing to do with Lex Luthor. However, this was never confirmed, as most gamers threw their cartridges out the window or burned them after five minutes of game play.
