PS3 owners are still getting Battlefield 1943

Looks like EA is coming through for PS3 owners. The timing couldn’t be better with all the great Black Friday deals on Battlefield 3. PS3 owners who purchased Battlefield 3 are going to get Battlefield 1943 for free as originally promised.

Originally, in June of 2011 EA mentioned PS3 owners would get additional bonuses for purchasing Battlefield 3. This included a free copy of 1943, which would be included with the Battlefield 3 game on PS3. Instead, for whatever reasons, PS3 owners ended up getting a week’s early access to the DLC as a replacement bonus.

Gamers were not happy about this so called bait and switch. There was a lawsuit filed. For the record, this is not the first time EA has gone back on its word. But for whatever reason EA has made this right and is giving away free copies of 1943 to PS3 gamers with an activated BF3 online pass. For those of us that live in North America, we can get our vouches starting on December 10th. Full instructions and details can be found here 1943redemption.battlefield.com.

This whole debacle reminds me of THQ giving free copies of Saints Row 2 out to PS3 owners. If gamers were just a little more patient things tend to work out in the end. Right now is a great time to be a PS3 owner, as who doesn’t like free games.
