Silent Hill HD CollectionBack when the Silent Hill HD Collection was first announced as an exclusive collection for the PS3 releasing in September/October of 2011 I was psyched.  The only Silent Hill titles I had played were the original and 4, and every time I would get ready to buy 2 I would force myself to wait.  A game this popular has to get an HD remake soon, and then I will have some great, HD frights.   As it would happen, this happened the day the collection was announced, which is why I remember this story so well.  But now, we have yet another delay to wait on.

The original release date was Sep/Oct, for the PS3.  That quickly changed to December when the exclusive compilation went multiplatform for the 360.  Then, we were forced into the new year with the release date scheduled as January 24th.  And then February.  And then March 6th.  Now, March 20th.  Come on Konami, this is getting way out of hand.

syndicate90s

I'm proud to admit it - I'm an old-school Syndicate fan.  I was fortunate to have played the original game back in the early 90s.

It was an interesting time, at the cusp of advances in technology -- computer technology.  Graphics had gone from 16-color EGA to the 256 colors of VGA, and if you had an advanced enough video card, you could take advantage of the higher-resolution goodness of SVGA (Super VGA).  Not only were the graphics of modern computer games getting better, but the sound was also improving.  Sound cards turned the beeps and boops of the internal computer speaker into "fully orchestrated" music with sound effect and voice overs.

wowListening to a few podcasts got me thinking about MMORPSs and their subscription plans. Some are free to play, others require a monthly fee, and some games withhold content unless gamers pay, utilizing a sort of freemium model. The question is with all the options, is there room for all these games to be profitable?
