The Saboteur—Been There Done That

Recently, I just finished playing The Saboteur, however, it wasn't because i finished the game. The game is a GTA clone, which is all well and good, but I need something of more substance to keep me playing. You play as an Irishman participating in the fight against the Nazi's in France. The story was compelling and had it's share of humorous moments; but my beef is with the gameplay. Missions are extremely similiar and the stealth/disguise mechanics are so terrible that you almost don't want to bother. In fact, after a few missions of attempting the stealth, I ended up just running and gunning through the levels until I completed the goal. Tight driving mechanics could also get to be pretty tiresome, resulting in frequent crashes and running down of pedestrians or Nazi soldiers. After finishing what seemed like the same mission for the third time (drive here, blow something up, rescue this guy, shoot these guys) I was done with the game. The shame is that the story ! was solid and I wanted to finish it, but i was just so bored by that point. If you can make it through the gameplay, the story really is worth it.
