The Return of the Living Dead—DVD Movie Review

Zombie flicks seem to pop up all over the place, and most are not that great, if you don't enjoy those B-Movie qualities most of them have. Now there are a plenty of great undead films, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Living Dead, Day of the Living Dead, and 28 Days/Weeks Later, just to name a few. My personal favorite comes from 1985, the cult classic The Return of the Living Dead. If you're a zombie fanatic and love yourself some Punk Rock and Deathrock tunes and dress, this is a movie for you.

The movie takes place in a medical supply warehouse, where a teen boy named Freddy just started working there. Frank, the foreman, lets Freddy in on a secret, the film Night of the Living Dead was based off actual events after a gas, called 245 Trixion was released in the morgue of a hospital and started re-animating the corpses. The US Military was unable to take control of the situation, so they sealed up the bodies into canisters and shipped them off. Well there was a mix-up in papers and a few canisters were shipped to the warehouse where they have been sitting for 14 years. Both go down to the basement to look at the bodies, Frank hits one of the canisters to show Freddy they are durable and the at that moment the gas in the canister starts filling the whole basement and shortly after, the whole warehouse. This is where all of the fun begins.

I suggest going out and finding a copy to watch, it is that good. The sequels start to get dull after the second film. Any time of the year is a great time to watch a classic zombie film such as The Return of the Living Dead. I give The Return of the Living Dead an 8.8/10.
