Your first impression of Lost Planet 2 on the PS3 could very well include a 15-minute install if not more. What does this lengthy install foreshadow? Awesomeness.

After the install, pressing start at the title screen brings up the options: campaign, online, training, my page, options, and of course, credits.

LP2Side (6K) The Campaign option takes you right in the action battling the Akrid, a native alien species of the planet. The coolest part of the campaign is the four-player online coop [Visit the forums to find other people who want to play coop. You do need to sign in view this page]. In addition, there is a splitscreen coop mode. The bosses are massive and you will need all the help you can get.

The Online option is a whole new topic. Game lobbies include Elimination and Capture Control Points and a few others. It's a good bet most are team-based. The maps themselves are titan sized with weapons, VS, and mechanical suits spread about everywhere. And yes, it takes more than a single bullet to kill a guy. In the online mode, you fully customize your character, including loadout and physical appearance. As you level up, you unlock new clothes, armor and weapons. Overall, it's the type of online experience that most gamers have learned to love.

The Training option consists of a series of challenge rooms. You have X amount of time to do X amount of things. This considered practice for the real game and is a fun way to learn the controls and the nuances of the game.

The My page option, obviously, allows you to look up stats and your character and customizations.

The re-playability of the campaign is medium to high as long as you have a group of friends to tag along with on the ride. Online will be fun as long as you make it fun. The training is also equipped with a leaderboard, so there is some challenge in trying to beat your score. Overall, Lost Planet 2 is recommended to everyone, even the people that didn't like the first one much.
