The opening sequences can take just under two hours to play. This is the equivalent to starting a new character in Origins. It's kind of a background story before the main quest begins. That's a welcome sign and provides hope that the entire campaign will be rather lengthy.
This opening mission, so to speak, is fast paced and action packed. You get to meet a few new characters and re-introduced to some familiar faces. The new environments are fun to explore and provide the set up for the remainder of the game.
You can easily spend four hours playing the game simply collecting one side mission after another with the main quest still to be started. That might sound boring, but there is plenty of action, leveling up and loot collecting to be done. If there were any doubts this was to be a short game, they are all but gone. Dragon Age is destined to be an icon of the RPG genre that will be incredibly difficult to better. This game shall stand the test of time.
