ransformers games have been like the cartoons and the movies: very hit and miss. I was hoping for a game that would reflect the Transformers of the 1980's that many of us grew up loving. I would have also settled for a darker game with some swearing and grisly Autobot deaths.

Anyways, outside of the movie games, fans have seen a few titles on PS2 and the ill-fated and god-awful Beast Wars games; and since there really has been no must-have Transformers game in years, this game has a lot to do to impress fans.

From what I've seen so far, I'd say Transformers: War for Cybertron has done a decent job of mixing everything and creating a game most people will like. The game doesn't have the bad voice acting or the terrible dance scene from the Transformers animated movie; it does have an over abundance of Transformers. In the first few hours of play I've enjoyed the co-op and the single player experience. warforcybertroncoverart (14K) The co-op delivers and it's hard to do good co-op these days. Army of Two had something going for it, but Transformers delivers a polished experience. Despite the long install and random load times on the PS3, I've been enjoying a feeling of childhood nostalgia. The sounds and the animations are on par with what I expected. If anything, the transformations from bot to vehicles are great and they never get old; despite the vehicle handling feeling like a bar of soap on the bathroom floor.

As Transformers: War for Cybertron progresses, I hope I get to transform Megatron into a gun. I'm sure I am butchering the Transformers time stream, but hey, it's what most people remember Megatron as being. I also look forward to beating the crap out of a classic Bumblebee in VW bug form. Although the movies and later animated series have given him a new look, his ever whining voice and useless actions are ingrained in the minds of fans everywhere. A few Dinobots would also be nice. If anything, at least fans and newcomers to this series can expect this game to be better than some of their childhood memories that have crossed over into the gaming world. Honestly who enjoyed the latest G.I. Joe game?
