The Good:

The Bad:

  • Everything, the graphics, gameplay, etc
  • AI is dumb as bricks
  • The game can be beat in under 5 hours

Few words can sum up this game, and within the first few hours I was convinced it could be described as caca. As a gamer I was never sold on the first Kane and Lynch even after it dropped to less than $20. A few people tried to convince me to pick it up saying it wasn't that bad; some of the same people also tried to convince me Rogue Warrior was a good game. As of now, after playing Kane and Lynch 2, I am glad I stayed away from the first game.

kane-lynch-2-dog-days (10K) There is a long list of why this game is getting 65's on metacrtic.com; personally, I would give it a 50 or less. To sum up the game in a nutshell, this game is not good, and nor is it a good representative of what a next generation console is capable of. The game is unpolished: unoriginal with a generic plot, the enemies are both dumb and bland, and to top it off the game is short. Gamers can plow through it in less than six hours of gaming time and there is no reason to come back.

For $60 I could do a lot better in the gaming world. The graphics are very grainy, and they distort more when players run or get peppered with gunfire. Although this is supposed to be an interesting effect, it creates a mixed bag that does little for the game play. The game also censors the bloody mess one can create by blasting most of an enemies' face off. If the developer kept that in, it would have at least given sadistic gamers a desire to play. One of the only redeeming factors was listening to Lynch go back and forth at Kane, who by the way is useless as an AI counterpart. The AI and borrowed cover mechanics are the same-old same-old. At least in the last action game I played--Dead to Rights Retribution--there was plentiful melee combat, pickups, humor, boss battles, and interesting weapons.

The co-op and multiplayer redeem the game a little as it is fun to play Fragile Alliance; trying to escape with money while betraying ones' teammates. But good luck trying to find someone playing. So what makes this game worth gamers' hard earned dollars before Fallout New Vegas? Nothing. I would be hard pressed to recommend this game to anyone. The game feels rushed and unfinished and should have been released at $30. Unless you are a hardcode Kane and Lynch fan, or need another 2-bit action game, pass on purchasing this game until it hits the clearance rack at Wal-Mart for $20.
