One last thing I want to touch on before I talk about the multiplayer is the recovery system. In Bad Company 1, you would heal yourself with a needle. I liked this idea and how it separated Bad Company from the other FPS games. However, now that original idea has vanished and we are back to soaking up the bullets and magically feeling better seconds later.
As for the multiplayer, it is very fun and addictive, but, it has only four game types and some matches can go on for VERY long times. An average match of Rush, depending on how skilled both teams are, is 30 minutes. Sometimes longer, sometimes shorter. The four game types are pretty basic, we have squad team deathmatch, pretty simple, kill or be killed. Capture the Flag, or CTF for short. Again, pretty basic. Capture the flags, defend them, and capture more flags. Then there's rush and squad rush. This is where things get interesting. In Bad Company 1, this was the only game mode and it was known as "Gold Rush." You have two teams, defense and offense. Defense defends the targets and offense charges in, trying to plant bombs on all targets, two at a time. Each time two targets are destroyed, more land is revealed for advancement and offense gets more reinforcements. The offense loses by having their reinforcements meter hit 0, by, of course, dying too much without destroying enough targets.
Each class has different equipment for different situations. It is a good idea to mix up all of these for different matching depending on the maps, how the other team plays, and how often vehicles are used. It takes a long time to level up, and I mean a LONG time, and there are 50 ranks! To get there, you will need a lot of free time. Maybe that's why the MP is designed to take so long, because the campaign is so short.
Overall, I loved this game, but was disappointed by the campaign. Before I rap this up, I want to mention something else as well. Dice is really picking on Infinity Ward. I found not one, but two Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 jokes in the game. One about the Heartbeat Monitors, and one about the snowmobiles. Anyway, go buy this game new. Its life is the multiplayer, and the maps will be a little bit more expensive if you don't get a VIP code, included with new copies of the game. Otherwise, prepare to pay $15 on top of the used price for the game!
