A
ssassin's Creed II. I have waited far too long to experience this game. I bought Assassin's Creed soon after it was released, but didn't get around to the sequel until now. It was upsetting to me that you don't play as Altair in Assassin's Creed II. However, Ezio turns out to be a great character. You will like him in little to no time.
The game picks up where the first left off. Desmond Miles is still being held against his will and forced to work in the Animus...for a little while at least. You are soon broken out by Lucy. After escaping Abstergo HQ, you meet some new allies. Shaun, Rebecca, and Lucy are your new best friends...although, Shaun could be a nicer friend. Also, you now have a new Animus at your disposal.
Ezio is a carefree teen at the beginning of the game. Fights, sex, and jokes are all he seems to care about. And, of course, his loving family. Unfortunately, Ezio's life is soon turned upside down. Some terrible events lead Ezio to become an Assassin. The rest is mainly like the first game: you search the new, bigger, and better environments with much more going on in them. You can hire mercenaries, thieves, and prostitutes to help you against enemies. Also, you may bump into a pickpockets and Borgia carriers. You can chase them down and kill or tackle them to make some money. Be sure to loot the bodies if you choose to kill. There are also shops that can dye your clothes, sell you medicine, poisons, armor, weapons, art, treasure maps, and more.
Another great thing about Assassin's Creed 2 is that it takes place after Assassin's Creed, even in the Animus. Meaning, there is plenty of room for references to Altair. One great thing about Altair is the gift he leaves you. Go to all six Assassins' tombs and you will get six seals. You can use those seals to remove the six locks on Altair's armor. What a treat!
If you get caught committing a crime, or doing anything else that could be frowned upon, your notoriety will rise. If you keep you notoriety low, you can walk right by guards without a problem. On the other hand, get the meter too high, and guards will recognize and engage you. To lower your notoriety, you can remove wanted posters, bribe heralds, and/or kill corrupt officials.
Assassin's Creed II has been out for about 7.5 months now, so naturally it has decreased in price. It can be picked up in some locations for great bargains, and I highly recommend it to any action/adventure gamer. It is a great step up from the already great Assassin's Creed. I won't wait nearly as long to pick up the new Assassin's Creed Brotherhood next year.
