And guess what? You don't even need Rock Band to play it! (You don't have Rock Band?!? Why don't you have Rock Band?!?)
If you've got Guitar Hero, you have no reason not to buy this game. The Guitar Hero controller is compatible, and you can play through a tour solo, or with a friend if you've got a second controller. Don't have a guitar? Just grab that USB mic laying around and start wailing "For Those About To Rock: We Saluuuuute You!" We have the Rock Band mic, but we've also used a Wii mic with it, and both work just fine. This really plays well as a game, and works just like playing through any other Rock Band game. You aren't able to customize your characters, but why would you want to mess with the magic that is AC/DC anyway, punk?
As you may have surmised, I'm a big AC/DC fan from way back, and that pretty much clinched the deal on this
game for me. This track pack is a recreation of a famous live performance at Donington in the UK, circa 1991.
All the songs are performed as the
live versions, so expect some epic solos and gratuitously long improvisations. There are 18 songs featured, and since it would be way too boring to
list all of them I'll just tell you about the ones I like the best (hey, it's my article, buddy!). "Back in Black" is an obvious favorite, along with
"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" and "You Shook Me All Night Long." Disappointingly, "Big Balls" is NOT included on this particular track pack, and I was
so looking forward to wailing that one in the neighbor's general direction. It's probably for the best though, as it may have been a tad difficult to
explain that one to the kiddos. Sigh, the joys of parenthood.
The AC/DC track pack is not a new game, which makes it super-easy to find and relatively cheap as well. It is instantly available right now on Goozex for 250 points, which is a steal. Order it, play it, love it--then trade it back to earn more points or hoard it jealously for yourself. You can also pick it up new for about $20 on Amazon, which is a good option for those Rock Band zealots who like to import all there track packs into one massive Rock Band extravaganza (like me!). Buy it, use the included code to import your songs, play it, love it, and trade/hoard it when you're done.
